Each spring, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture celebrates Arbor Day with its Free Tree Fridays campaign, distributing bare-root seedlings to Arkansans at locations across the state.
The campaign encourages tree planting across Arkansas by offering free native seedlings to individuals and families. Species are donated by the Arkansas Urban Forestry Council and vary by location. Seedlings often include:
- Cherrybark oak
- Eastern redbud
- Persimmon
- Red mulberry
- Shumard oak
