Conservation

The Conservation Section provides leadership and support to Arkansas’s 75 conservation districts in their efforts to develop, manage, and conserve the state’s land and water resources. These districts play a vital role in protecting soil and water quality, supporting agriculture, and promoting sustainable resource use at the local level.

To help meet regional needs, the Conservation Section assigns three land resource specialists to cover different parts of the state—northeast, northwest, and south. These specialists work directly with districts to share technical guidance, deliver educational programs, and communicate local concerns to the state level.

Section staff also engage with communities through area meetings, field days, and youth workshops to promote conservation awareness and practices. In addition, the Conservation Section administers the Arkansas Feral Hog Eradication Program and coordinates with partners on major initiatives such as the Bayou Meto and Grand Prairie irrigation projects.
