The Commission
The Arkansas General Assembly passed the Arkansas Water Well Construction Act in 1969 to protect the general health, safety, and welfare of Arkansans by regulating water well construction and pump installation. The Act created the Arkansas Water Well Construction Commission, which developed Rules and Regulations that allowed for enforcement of the requirements of the Act.
For many years, Water Well Construction staff was housed with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission and then by the Natural Resources Division of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. In July 2023, the Arkansas Water Well Construction Commission was abolished, and its powers and duties were transferred to the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission. A Water Well Construction Committee was formed to advise the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission on water well matters.
