The Arkansas Forestry Commission provides oversight guidance to the Forestry Division in pursuing its mission to protect Arkansas’s forests, and those who enjoy them, from wildland fire and natural hazards while promoting rural and urban forest health, stewardship, development, and conservation for all generations of Arkansans.
The nine-member commission is appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Three members must be tree farmers owning 250 acres or less of timber acreage and three members must be registered foresters. Each congressional district must be represented on the commission. Members are appointed for five-year terms.
