Crop production is a cornerstone of Arkansas’s economy. The state ranks among the top producers nationally in rice, soybeans, cotton, and corn. Arkansas farmers generate billions of dollars in agricultural output each year, supporting rural communities, creating jobs, and driving trade.
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Plant Industries Division protects consumers and supports the state’s agricultural and business sectors through science-based oversight, public education, and the fair enforcement of laws and regulations.
The division’s mission is to protect and serve the citizens of Arkansas and its agricultural and business communities by providing information and impartial enforcement, ensuring the availability of safe, high-quality products and services.
The division is organized into five key sections:
- Pesticide
- Regulatory Services
- Quality Control and Compliance
- Bureau of Standards
- Inspection Services
Together, these sections manage 58 diverse programs that support agricultural production, consumer safety, and regulatory compliance.
